When you think about it there are a lot of things in our bathrooms. Of course the details and preferences vary from person to person, but the essentials are all there, and there are a lot them. Toilet, towels, sinks, shower, tub, cabinets, tile and so on, these items are all easy to see. It’s the not-so easy things hiding in your bathroom that may surprise you. Here are 4 things you may not be aware of, but you are around every day.
1.) Blood: On just about every toothbrush there are microparticles of blood that get there from brushing.
2.) Cosmetic Aerosols: Whether it’s hairspray, deodorant or any other type of spray, the chances of particles landing on or around your toothbrush are pretty good.
3.) Influenza: Anytime you’ve been sick with the flu or any other type of viral infection it is time to change your toothbrush.
4.) Staph: This bacteria can cause a variety of skin infections and can survive in different areas of your bathroom.
While these are fairly unpleasant things, they can provide a good idea of where to keep your toothbrush and how to clean your bathroom. It is crucial to keep your toothbrush dry, as dry toothbrushes won’t harbor bacteria. Changing your toothbrush every 3 months or so is a good idea, and don’t clean it in the microwave or dishwasher, they aren’t designed to withstand that.
